It seems to me that I should drop my Cable modem at $50 a month and use Virgin.
What do you think?

I'll call you on my math.
I'll call you on my math. BTW with a max download of <.8mmps with an average of .5mmps is this fast enough? I love sailing at many times that.

Right now I get free basic cable so I only pay for the cable modem.
This seems like it is way too good to be true where I could use the internet at the airport or in the car.
I need a job before I worry about moving out of this apartment and, if I get the job then the bonus money will mean that I can afford to do something.
New Mexico looks somewhat promising and Reno is not dead yet

What is "bby"? It isn't a replacement for a phone, it is a replacement for internet access. So, your answering the wrong question with questionable math. It just makes you more lovable. Personally, I don't leave the house and need my 20 Mb speed Comcast gives me.

On a very similar network, Sprint's iDen (read Nextel) you can get an older bby curve for $150 and $60 a month. You can do the math, $100 more for phone on Virgin, but $10 bucks less a month, if you can talk less than 1200 anytime min (d/n) gives you a payback of then months, but if this is an interim solution where in less than 10 months you will get something else it makes sense to be all virgin.
if you dont watch tv, you
if you dont watch tv, you should. for that matter you could get by with their phone service $40 a month add $10 for bby. Catches on phone service, you buy a curve for $250 and you are stuck strictly on sprint service, dead, no roaming, when you are off the beaten path. eg Wausau has service, and the north south highway has service as does the east west highway, but the rest of northern wisco is dead. But this might get you buy until Yuko is out of agreement, and or you are more settled in another job. BTW these rates include most taxes!
